The Emmaus Crucifix

Fritz Trost, who designed and built Emmaus’ new liturgical furnishings, along with Fr. Dan Krettek, long-time Emmaus leader, will lead a day of prayer and reflection on the meaning and mystery of the Cross of Christ, as embodied in the crucifix created for Emmaus.

 

With training and extensive experience in the disciplines of art and architecture, as well as formation and service in Christian ministry, Trost will also share how he conceived and created the new Emmaus Altar to embody Ignatian Spirituality, and the Life and Ministry of Emmaus.

Fritz Trost is an Artist and Builder and minister from Des Moines, IA. Fritz is married to Lora and they are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. They have four adult children. 

 

Fritz enjoys designing, building and sculpting neighborhoods, homes and artwork; he graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL where he studied Theatre Arts in 1992. 

 

Fritz ministers in many and various contexts around the world where he focuses on sharing the great gift of following the ways of Jesus so the life of Jesus can be experienced in deeper more meaningful ways. 

Fr. Dan Krettek

Fr. Dan Krettek is a Catholic Priest of the Diocese of Des Moines. He attended seminary at the North American College in Rome prior to his ordination in 1978. He has done advanced studies in theology, canon law, and spirituality, with certification in spiritual direction and retreat direction. He completed the School for Charismatic Spiritual Directors at the Pecos Benedictine Monastery, and has been trained to present the Introductory Workshop in Centering Prayer by the Contemplative Outreach organization.

 

He has served in parish ministry, individual and group spiritual direction, ministry to the divorced and separated, hospital chaplaincy, and high school campus ministry. He was co-director at the Emmaus House for 25 years, doing spiritual direction, retreats, and other spiritual renewal programs.
