On July 31st of every year, we celebrate the feast of St. Ignatius Loyola. This year, on July 31st, we also celebrate the 50-year anniversary of Gene Merz, SJ and Gary Brophy, SJ arriving in Des Moines and opening the doors of Emmaus House.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, please join us for this opportunity to gather in community, share our stories, and reflect on the ways our lives have been impacted through connection with the Emmaus House community these past fifty years.

All are welcome to attend this open house. Whether you have been connected with Emmaus House for fifty years, attended an occasional program, or have never been to Emmaus House, we hope you will join us.

​

There is no formal program, so you are welcome to stop by Emmaus House any time between 4:00 and 7:00 pm. Photos taken over the past fifty years will be displayed throughout the facility. Videos of Gene Merz, SJ presenting at the 40th anniversary celebration, as well as Fr. Krettek's interview with Sr. Mary Dingman, will be played. Light refreshments will be served.
