Why take 3-4 days out of your busy life for a silent, directed retreat? I’m glad that you asked that!
Emmaus House is offering an opportunity for you to step back, to “retreat”, from the busyness and clamor of everyday life to spend intentional time deepening your relationship with God through the lens of Ignatian Spirituality while in the beautiful wooded setting of Creighton Retreat Center in Griswold, IA. Each day you will meet privately with a spiritual director who will assist you in listening to God’s invitation to draw closer in mutual relationship and will offer suggestions for scripture and meditations to help guide you during your silence. You are also invited to participate in daily liturgy in the Retreat Center’s beautiful chapel.
The retreat begins with dinner on Thursday, March 9th, where you will be able to meet and visit with the other participants. Dinner will be followed by a general group conference, after which you will meet with your assigned spiritual director and then move into silence until the concluding lunch at noon on Sunday, March 12th.
Want to know more about an Ignatian directed retreat? Throughout this week we will post some short blogs on different aspects of the retreat—what to expect, structure of a silent retreat, or “how I’ll spend my day”, the role of the spiritual director, how can I possibly be totally quiet for three days?!?, and “why would I even want to go on a silent retreat?
