Come and hear stories of Fr. Kirby's experiences from his most recent journey to Ukraine. Once again, Fr. Kirby volunteered as a photographer capturing the heartbreaking images of the war in Ukraine. He was also able to deliver donations from parishes in our diocese and individuals from Emmaus House to the Ukrainian soldiers near the front.

About Fr. Jim Kirby
Jim Kirby is an ordained priest for the Diocese of Des Moines in Iowa. He was ordained in 1996 and was assigned to the parishes of St. Theresa’s in Des Moines, St. Francis in West Des Moines and St. Elizabeth’s in Carlisle. He also was campus minister at Dowling Catholic High School for ten years. While at Dowling, he has taken students on yearly mission trips to the orphanage of Casa Hogar in Barinas, Venezuela and to a children’s community center, Terra Livre in Goiania, Brazil.
Recently he spent the month of June as a freelance photographer in Ukraine covering the humanitarian efforts by the Rotary Club Kyiv-Sophia due to the Russian assault on Ukraine. Currently he is helping out at the parishes of Missouri Valley and Logan, Iowa
