Four-Week Guided Retreat:

Inner Peace in Darkness and Light

“By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79)

In our lives, we may experience various forms of inner darkness, yet, we are not alone in the dark. God is with us. During this four-week guided retreat, we are invited to receive the tender love of God as we “enter progressively into the mysteries of love, mercy, healing, and freedom…The purpose of this retreat is to help [us] to move forward in life with greater depth” (Michael Hansen, SJ).

This retreat, "Inner Peace in Darkness and Light," from The First Spiritual Exercises by Michael Hansen, SJ, is adapted from the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. Throughout this four-week retreat, retreatants are invited to pray daily for approximately 30-45 minutes, and then gather weekly as a group for a time of sacred listening and spiritual conversation.
